Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

What is SEO?

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” Put simply, this is the process of improving your site to increase its visibility when people search for products or services related to your business in Google and other search engines. The higher your site's SEO, the higher they will appear in these searches and the more likely you are to attract people to your site.

Here is a guide on what you can do to help increase your ranking on Google.

A great way to increase your brand awareness is ranking as high as you possibly can for a given keyword search on Google. The largest contributing factor to this are "keywords" that are found on your site. As Parkbench is a massive network of community websites you've already got a leg up, but if you're wanting to get as high as you possibly can check out this article that explains all the things that you can do to help get you there!

Interview Titles

Your title needs to be eye catching and include your focus keywords!
Keep it relatively short, otherwise it gets cut off in a google search.
Using words like “Now” “Fast” “Get” “Try” “Free” are particularly useful for Google’s Algorithm.

Example of ideal title:
“Autism Awareness in Auckland, get to know the Director Chris Jensen”

“Get to know Chris Jensen, the Director of Autism Awareness in Auckland, New Zealand”.

Interview Summary

The Summary field in the Interview template is used as the meta description on google. 

“The meta description is a snippet of up to about 155 characters - a tag in HTML - which summarizes a page’s content. 

Search engines show the meta description in search results mostly when the searched-for phase is within the description, so optimizing the meta description is crucial for on-page SEO”

The first two sentences of the meta description should include:

  • Focus keywords
  • Must be eye catching
  • Have a description of interview
  • Needs to be relevant

Outside of the first two sentences the summary can be as detailed as you want. 

Written Answers

Include your focus keywords in the questions and answers of your written content. 

Instead of: “Describe your business?”
Include the name of the business: “Describe Autism Awareness to our viewers?”

The difference is that it highlights the focus keyword that you are wanting to rank for.

Answers must be written in full and should provide information that can be categorized by Google.

Which Words Will Help Me Rank Higher?

The support team at Parkbench is able to do a key word search for you. This will indicate the topics and words that are searched on google in your area and will provide you with examples of words to include in interviews and blogs that will help you to rank higher in search engines. 

Your Parkbench Real Estate Profile Page

Make sure you complete all fields of your real estate profile page. It is a page that can be filled out with content for Google to sort through, to categorize your website. For full instructions click here

Use video, existing written information, images and links in the profile. This will contribute to the SEO of your page overall.

Manually Add Listings to Parkbench

Add between 2 and 10 listings to your site Manually. This creates a dropdown for 'Featured Listings.' 

Highlight 2 listings on your homepage and 3 on your real estate profile page

When uploading an interview take the extra time to fill out as much information as possible in Step 1. Ensure to fill out the Website and Social Media URLs for the business in the template.
